Inside the bar, guests could enjoy the stunning blue and gold decor, featuring intricate patterns and artwork that added to the ambiance. The dedicated lab area allowed the bartenders to experiment with new ingredients and methods, pushing the boundaries of what was possible in a hotel bar.

Memories of a Legacy

Bars manager Marcello Cauda shared his thoughts on the Blue Bar’s closure in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“Blue Bar at The Berkeley closed its door last night after being one of the most iconic hotel bars in London in the past 25 years.

“Being part of this amazing bar and this legacy for me has been a dream come true,” Cauda said. “I want to thank all the team members who have been part of this journey, all the brands that supported us and all the fantastic guests who have passed through this door every day.”

“I also want to thank everyone who managed to come and say bye to this fantastic place,” Cauda added, reflecting on the bar’s impact on its patrons.

During his time at the Blue Bar, Cauda had the opportunity to participate in numerous takeovers, hosting the bar in various cities around the world, including Bangkok, Budapest, Paris, Rome, Turin, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, New York, and Athens.

  • These takeovers allowed the bar to connect with new audiences and share its unique approach to mixology.
  • The Blue Bar also created over 100 signature cocktails, each one a testament to the creativity and skill of its bartenders.

Awards and Accolades

The Blue Bar received numerous awards and accolades throughout its operation, including a Pin in the Pinnacle Guide, one of the first to be awarded to the bar.

“Congratulations to @marcellocauda, @giovannibrunomix, and team, as well as all those who came before them,” said the co-founders of The Pinnacle Guide, Siobhan Payne and Hannah Sharman-Cox. “It was an honour to be able to award this bar with an incredibly well-deserved one Pin from The Pinnacle Guide last year.”

The Spirits Business has reached out to The Berkeley for confirmation as to why the bar has closed and what is to come of the space after The Blue Bar’s departure.
